Bastogne, Belgium

Today I started my military history weekend and currently, I’m in a hotel in Bastogne, Belgium. I visited La Gleize, Belgium, and the German War Cemetery in Recogne, Belgium. Photos will follow later.

In Bastogne, I finally got to see the Bastogne War Museum and the Mardasson Memorial. When I first visited Bastogne a couple of years ago, the memorial and the museum were under renovation.

Here are some photos from the outside, showing the Mardasson Memorial and a sculpture by Seward Johnson, called “The Kiss.” I used my Nikon D5300 with a Nikon DX VR AF-P NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens. Editing with Adobe Lightroom CC.

Portland, Maine, USA

These photos are from a walk in Portland, ME, one day before we took the ferry to Peaks Island. While watching the boats and ships, we noticed crazy fog hovering towards the beach, and we waited until we were in it. All photos came from the iPhone 6s with editing from the Blackie and Snapseed app.
When it comes to black and white photos, these two apps are all I need. If I know I want a motive in black in white, I’ll take the photo with Blackie. Otherwise, I use the native camera function and edit the photo with Snapseed. If I can’t get it done with Snapseed, I switch to Blackie and play around with the filters. The downside is that I have to play around with Blackie.

USA – Winter 2014/2015

Some older photos from 2014/2015. My wife and I travelled to the States for Christmas and New Years, and I tried out the iPhone 6 I bought shortly before our trip. I used Snapseed to edit all of the photos. The first of the photos above is one of our favourites. We liked it that much, we even printed and framed it.

I shot all of these photos on September 9, 2016, when my wife and I were in Portland, ME. I used an iPhone 6s, and I edited the photos with Snapseed.
